In the last 25 years in software and technology business, nothing has been more rewarding to me than creating big and meaningful impact in the world with great people.
I was fortunate to be part of the startup and growth stages of two great companies that have since created over $1 billion in total revenue in the CRM software industry – ACT! and SalesLogix. I was an early employee at ACT! (the best selling Windows contact manager in the ’90s used by 4 million salespeople) and I was one of the co-founders of SalesLogix (the first mid-market CRM software) which went public in 1999 and was bought by Sage plc (LON: SGE) in 2001 for $300 million. I ran the ACT! business for Sage until 2004.
For almost five years from early 2011 through 2015, I was the Chief Marketing Officer at Infusionsoft, where I fueled my passion for helping entrepreneurs grow big enough to change the world and achieve the life they want. I believe entrepreneurs and small business owners have unlimited potential to change the future of their businesses, communities and families. Infusionsoft is a special company with an explicit purpose: to help small businesses succeed. Infusionsoft will be doing great things for a long time.
I’m currently consulting with CEOs of growing companies, advising SaaS (software) startup founders in Arizona, and writing the book I told everyone I’d write when I had the chance. I also blog weekly on this site.
I have envisioned, executed, managed and led most functions of a software business, from President to CMO/VP of Marketing to Product Management and Sales where I started. I have also advised hundreds of startup founders and small business owners as a strategy consultant or advisor.
I live in Scottsdale, Arizona with my wife and we have two kids in college now. We try to get up to Park City, Utah as much as possible in winter and summer. When I’m not working, I enjoy swimming, skiing, playing guitar, hiking and hanging out with my family.
